Glad you found the site, and thanks for commenting!

Sorry to hear you can’t get away with sleeping at work. I wish the general public and more executives could come to understand and appreciate the MASSIVE benefits of naps, but I doubt any red-blooded American exec could look past the obvious “if you have time to nap…” argument. Sigh.

I honestly can’t sleep “on demand” right now, though I used to. I still take about twenty minutes to get to sleep at night, though that’s down from over an hour. Mainly, I learned that sleeping takes practice–as goofy as it sounds, you can train your body and mind to sleep when YOU want to, not when you’re actually exhausted.

Waking up, too, takes practice, but I don’t have as much issue with it. Try different times of the day, different supplements, and different lengths of nap too.

Hope that helps!
Nick

Your comments on sleep sound spookily similar to my own experiences. Always tired in the mornings; can stay up really late without too much difficulty; but doing so makes me insanely tired the next day (far worse than normal). I used to stay up late and sleep in late at the weekend – I don’t do that so much now. I get up early through the week.

The tricky part for me is I’m 100% certain I would never be able to sleep at work, and I work long hours. I get in early and should really leave on time more often than I currently do; perhaps I could then sleep at home after I get home, work on stuff, and stay up late.

How do you manage to sleep “on demand” and for short periods of time? I feel awful if I have a nap – I guess I’m not used to it – and that’s if I can even get to sleep in the first place.

I’m going to do some planning based on that thought. Thanks
